By train and bus, step by step

  1. Take the train from Dublin to Galway, or to Ennis via Limerick.
  2. In Galway or Ennis, take Bus Éireann route 350, which links Galway, the Cliffs of Moher and Ennis. From Galway there is also TFI Local Link route 351, with 4 departures a day.
  3. Check return times before you set out: there are fewer departures outside summer.
  4. Buy your cliffs ticket online; it is cheaper than at the desk.
  5. In summer, the free Burren & Cliffs Explorer bus links Burren villages with the cliffs and makes it easy to add Doolin.

Is it worth staying overnight in the area?

If you want to take the boat in Doolin, do the cliff walk or watch the sunset at the cliffs, yes: the day trip runs on a fixed schedule and spends at least 7 hours on the road. Galway, 1 hour 30 minutes by car, and the villages of County Clare are the closest bases.
